FOG 3.1 Book 3 Now available

FOG Army Book 3 is now up and available.  Follow the link below:

FOG 3.1 Book 3

The original document from Terry was in A4 format.  When I opened it the formatting on the pages after the table of contents was all screwed up.  Luckily, it was uploaded in as a word doc and I was able to reformat it using letter format using Google Docs.  This changed the table of contents order somewhat but the link above will take you to the reformatted document with a corrected table of contents.

The table of contents is still off on the Book 1 document and I will try to correct it in the coming days.

The latest full color 3.1 rules has also been added to the website with changes/corrections added since Book 1 was released.

Fall of Rome Campaign - 457 AD

I am currently convalescing from surgery so with time on my hands and extra energy, I finally got around to working on a campaign set with the ascension of Majorian as Emperor in the West.

The draft map is below.  Will sharpen up the colors once I get things the way I want them.

The campaign rules will be on the same lines as Broken Rays of the Sun and they are in development.

FOG 3.1 one file QRS

The FOG 3.1 QRS has now been uploaded to the 3.1 Resources page as a single file.  You can also find the file here.

I found a contradiction in the Full Turn Sequence so it will be delayed in uploading.  The wording on when death rolls are taken in the Battle Group Deterioration section goes back to V1/V2 days and is as such in the Full Turn Sequence in Appendix 9 under the Shooting Phase but under the Melee Phase it is the V3 wording (with death rolls before cohesion tests).  I asked for clarification on the forum and once it is ironed out, I will upload the FTS and Deployment page as a single file.

I am still working on the formatting of Army Book 1.  Trying to get lists to break in logical places.  Hopefully, I will have this finished before Book 2 drops.

FOG 3.1 Resources Page

The links on the Slithering page appear to have disappeared so I have added a FOG 3.1 Resources Page.  I am currently working on the formatting for Book 1 and will add it in due course.

FOG 3.1 Drops

FOG 3.1 has dropped on the Slithering website under Tabletop news.  It has been made a free download with the main rules and Army List Book 1 available. I have not had time to fully digest the changes but several new lists have been added to Book 1 (Early Highland Raiders, Neo-Babylonian to name a few) and at least one new troop type (Light Camelry) has been added.  I hope to add more info in the coming weeks to include links.  Stay Tuned.

Reinforcements for the Classical Indians

Had a bit of inspiration to paint lately and finished up 4 stands of Indian Clubmen.  The figures are Khurasan 15s and look a bit cartoonish to me but I think they paint up nicely.  Although, the top of their turban reminds me of Dr. Seuss.  Anyway they will be part of a random event in one of my Classical Indian campaigns under development.

A new campaign has been uploaded to the Campaign page:  The High King of Tara.

Rules, map and extra lists have been added.  Visit the Campaigns page to see the new development and other campaigns for Field of Glory currently available.  I hope to update the Dark Ages Reading List in the coming weeks as well.

Reinforcements for the Table

Keeping in line with the renewed interest in the 1st Crusade and Byzantium, I got around to adding some additional troops to the Byzantine/Crusades collection:  Seljuk Turk Bow Cavalry and Byzantine Medium Foot Archers.  The Byzantine archers are from a Komnenan Byzantine list I used at a team tournament under FOG V1.  They originally numbered only 16 as light foot.  When V3 came out, I now needed medium foot to field the list so I painted up 8 more.  The SeljukTurk Bow Cavalry started off as light horse bow under V1.  Under V3, every Saracen list from the Crusades list have to have multiple battle groups of Bow Cavalry and the 16 stands of light horse bow just would not work so more had to be recruited.  All figures pictured are OG15s BTW.

Seljuk Turk Bow Cavalry - I painted 8 of these and the others I picked up off a gentleman from France off Bay.  These can be used for any Saracen list of the Crusades era as Turcoman Bow Cavalry.

Back to the Blog

This morning has seen a bit of interest again in one of the campaign scenarios that has been languishing for a while, The Red Boots of Byzantium.

The map has been finished for a while but the rules needed work.  As of today, the rules have been updated and are linked below.  Hopefully, I will be inspired to finish up some Byzantine units that have been in various stages of completion.

February Blog Update

The blog is still here and I hope to post new content in the near future but gaming has stopped for all practical purposes due to life in general.  No big issues but just too much of everything else to do.  Hope everyone is well and is able to get some gaming done.  Until next time...
